A Study on ultimate photo-realistic representation for product evaluation in 3D-AR environment

In this project we research a technique to efficiently perform the immersive 'virtual product evaluation' process using new concept of AR technology used together with 3D display devices. We especially focus on studying and developing control and manipulation of the product via construction of 3D display based AR, photo-realistic material representation and product design method based on stereo rendering technique and computation acceleration using GPU power. By securing the high value core technology and know-how through this project, our completed product evaluation framework could be broadly used not only for product prototyping but also health-care, media, education and so on.

Expected Contribution
  • Early preoccupancy of the competitive technology and the intellectual property is expected thanks to the securing of the original applied AR technology, especially with 3D-image display devices.
  • Primarily applied into product prototyping process in many industrial fields.
  • Further applied into ubiquitous computing, TV shopping products, education, military simulation and remote surgery operated upon the haptic devices, etc.

We should consider the model deformation and visual feedback according to the force in the haptic simulation. Therefore, we would like to develop an interactive and force correlated visualization framework with realistic reaction models including real material reflectance and photo-realistic rendering approaches.

다중위성 임무 수행을 위한 차세대 관제기술 연구

국가 우주개발 사업이 빠르게 진행되는 현 상황에서, 위성 활용 및 응용의 효율성 증대를 위해서 다중위성의 운용기법 연구는 시급한 과제로 대두되고 있다. 다중위성은 기존의 단일위성에서 한계점으로 인식되고 있는 시공간 제약을 확대할 것으로 예측된다. 현재 국내적으로는 다목적실용위성 -1, -2, -3, 과학위성, 통신해양기상위성, 무궁화위성 등 많은 위성을 운용하고 있는데, 이들 위성의 임무를 분담하여 전체 효율성을 증대할 필요성이 제기되는 상황이다. 이들 위성의 임무는 기존의 단일위성 관제시스템을 기반으로 설계할 수 없고, 다중 위성의 서로 상관관계를 고려해서 새롭게 정립되어야 한다. 따라서 본 과제에서는 다중위성의 운용, 임무설계에 대한 개념을 정립하는 것을 목적으로 한다.

Detection and Classification of Buried Landmines using Ground Penetrating Radar

GPR data contain three kinds of signals, which are ground, landmines and noise.
The process for detection and classification needs to extract the signal of landmines.
The improved methods for the accuracy of signals are being researched.Korea has DMZ where many landmines are buried.
Removing landmines is so dangerous and needs a lot of time. This research could help reduce the above problems.
